““I was looking to undertake a brash and challenging idea: bring 20 Torontonians to Israel and have them pull off the litmus challenge for every Israel combat recruit - the Masa Kumta. A beret march. 80 kilometers over some of the most unforgiving terrain in the world, carrying our own supplies, moving base camp every day, organizing food, showers, tents, and finishing the 3 1/2 day trek with a stirring climb to the top of Masada at daybreak.

Add to it that this was a fundraiser to benefit our Synagogue - Beth Sholom - and the Israeli wounded warrior organization Brothers for Life. Each of the participants was required to pay their expenses and via peer-to-peer fundraising raise a minimum of $15,000 a person.

Pam brought extraordinary logistical and organization skills in helping coordinate the extraordinary challenges of the land experience. She was with us each step of the way ensuring suppliers were ready to go and prepared to do what they needed to do for us. The campaign was an outstanding success in raising over $600,000 and Pam’s experience with peer-to-peer fund-raising along with her gentle and caring approach supported each of the participants to bravely extend their efforts to raise the committed funds. Simply put: it would not have been what it was if not for Pam!
